The DRC Red Cross provided meals on Saturday, April 29, to more than 3,000 refugees from Kwamouth and Bagata who are currently residing in Bandundu.

The Humanitarian Fund is stepping in to support those who have fled their villages due to the violence of armed attackers and are experiencing food hardship.

Thousands of people surrounded the Red Cross office in the Bandundu commune of Basoko on Saturday in the late afternoon.

This aid from the Humanitarian Fund, according to Prospère Nkuy, president of the Red Cross in Kwilu, is intended for the almost 3,400 displaced individuals who are currently living in Bandundu.

These recipients, who express gratitude to their sponsor, say that going back to their home villages is their greatest wish.

Félicien Kiway, the vice-governor of Kwilu, expressed his regret that some Bandundu residents who are not displaced had mingled with them in order to receive this humanitarian aid as well.
