Chérubin Okende’s death was classified as a “political assassination” by Moise Katumbi, president of the Ensemble political party, whose porte-parole he was. He stated this during a meeting with RFI that was conducted after he attended the 45th CAF General Assembly in Abidjan.

“I’m very depressed; I’m really sad.” For Chérubin, who served as the party’s voice, this was a political assassination. As soon as the country is no longer under our control, my advisors and partners are terminated, we are killed, and we are told to keep quiet. Moise Katumbi declared, “We will never accept.

To “know the truth,” it demands an independent investigation. Le leader of the assembly declares that he has lost faith in congolese institutions.

I have to leave, but what they did to Cherubin won’t go unpunished. It’s a goof-off. Before the Constitutional Court, he had been kidnapped. Where are we going in this country, and what is the legal situation if one has to kill someone because they disagree with how the country is run?

On Thursday morning in Kinshasa, Cherubin Okende, a national lawmaker and former minister of transportation and communications, was discovered dead inside his car. Balls have been strewn throughout the body of this collaborator of Moise Katumbi.

“We’re chasing the criminal.” The first suspect who is currently being questioned by the grand jury is currently in the hands of the legal system, the general prosecutor near the court of appeals, Firmin Mvonde, said on Thursday, July 13, in Kinshasa. In a press conference that he hosted near the constitutional court, he stated this along with the president of the court and the general prosecutor.

According to the report, Chérubin Okende was shot to death and a weapon was discovered in his car.

“The investigations have started. Given that the death was caused by a ball that was retrieved from a weapon that was discovered next to the body, the scientific police was requested. The first signs show that a ball caused the death. I also want to let you know that at this time, the evidence we have doesn’t allow us to identify the offender or pinpoint his or her location. The general prosecutor close to the Court of Cassation added, “However, the reliable indicators are in the hands of the investigators, meaning that several people cooperated for this criminal to be acquitted.

Everyone is urged to contact his office and not share any information that can help him “orient the investigations” on social media.

The MONUSCO welcomes the government’s decision to “do everything possible to find the culprits and bring them to justice” and “condamns strongly the murder of Chérubin Okende.” This is what the Mission Onusienne said on its Twitter account on Thursday, July 13.

The United States, on the other hand, strongly condemn the cruel killing of the former minister of transportation Cherubin Okende and urge the congolese authorities to get the promised investigation into this heinous murder forward as soon as possible.
