Following an attack on Thursday, June 8 in the morning in the grouping of Bukombo, chiefdom of Bwito toward the extreme south-east of the territory of Rutshuru (North Kivu), at least three civilians have been killed and other households are on the move. According to numerous local sources, these clashes pit M23 against the armed Nyatura faction in Domi.
There have been simultaneous attacks against M23 positions in the villages of Kitwayovu, Shonyi, and Rubwe South by militia members of the armed group Collective Movement for Change (MCC)/Nyatura since three in the morning, according to a number of local sources.
However, due to the violence, the whole population of this area has evacuated, especially to Bukombo-Centre and Birambizo.
Three civilian deaths during conflicts in the villages of Shonyi and Rubwe-South, as well as reports of looting in the hamlet of Kavumu, are also mentioned in the sources.
In the next several weeks, anticipated clashes between M23 and the numerous local armed groups in the territory of Rutshuru, where South Sudanese, Kenyan, and Ugandan troops from the EAC’s regional army are stationed.
Infact different militia groups most of which are known to be closely collaborating with the Kinshasa government forces FARDC, have embraced the opportunity of inclusivity to national forces in order to easily impose their aggressive ideology to the Tutsi and the entire Rwandophone community in the DRcongo.
Due to the M23 mouvement intervention to this violence believed to be associated with the Kinshasa government, the world does not acknowledge their responsibility to protect this community.
