Trump should be barred from taking office again, he continued, citing his behavior on January 6.

Mr. Pence also attacked Democratic President Joe Biden, claiming that neither he nor Mr. Trump are typical Americans who understand how to “treat each other with kindness and respect even when we disagree.”
He attacked Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, another Republican opponent in 2024, but he spent a large portion of his address criticizing Mr. Trump.
He attacked Mr. DeSantis for his previous comments regarding the conflict in Ukraine, saying that “Donald Trump and others who would seek the presidency would walk away from our traditional role on the world stage.”
At a later CNN town hall, he persisted in criticizing his rivals and attacked Mr. Trump for previously referring to Russian President Vladimir Putin as a “genius.” However, he also criticized the prosecution for looking into Mr. Trump’s suspected misuse of secret information after he left office, saying that “indicting a former president in the United States sends a terrible message to the world.”
It happens after prosecutors exonerated Mr. Pence of wrongdoing last week for his own handling of secret information.
Last weekend’s Roast and Ride fundraiser at the Iowa State Fairgrounds included eight Republican presidential hopefuls, including Mr. Pence.
Along with several hundred other motorcyclists, he arrived on a Harley Davidson and rode in a convoy to raise money for veterans of the military. However, that was insufficient to generate any interest in his campaign.
Former US Vice-President Mike Pence has formally submitted paperwork to enter the Republican field of candidates for president, which is getting more and more crowded.
